I’m Kim Gunter and I am the founder of Woven Abode. I opened my shop in 2015. It took quite a while to get here but man was it worth it! My professional background is in education, but after a few years of teaching, I decided that I needed to make a change or I was going to lose my mind. I tried several different things but never found anything that I was passionate about. Then I had my first child and it was love at first sight. For the next decade, I had the the privilege of staying home and raising my three kiddos. I wouldn’t trade that time for anything. In 2008, we made a big move from Georgia to California, and since my kids were getting older and more independent, I got bored. So, I started rescuing old furniture and flipping it. During one of my furniture hunts, I came across this little hole in the wall and the floor was covered in antique rugs. My jaw literally dropped. I bought them all. The handmade details of the rugs were mesmerizing and I fell in love. Over the next year, I was buying and selling rugs to dealers in Los Angeles faster than I could get them. That’s when my husband told me that I needed to quit selling to other shops and start my own. The rest, as they say, is history. I would never have dreamed that I would own my own business or that I would actually love what I do. I feel so lucky that I’m able to share it with you.
